Since November I experienced extreme neck pain and discomfort. In early January, I visited my primary doctor and was told I probably sprained my neck and I should continue all activity, including exercise and just take some over the counter pain medication.
Not feeling better and thinking I needed to advocate for myself, on January 11, I went to the Sebasticook Valley ER in Pittsfield where they did 2 CT scans and 1 MRI which identified a mass in my lung which metastasized to my vertebrae in two places.
A biopsy in Portland on January 20thshowed non-small cell pulmonary adenocarcinoma.
My doctors tell me the non-small cell cancer is a better outcome than small cell cancer and I am taking this as “good news” and am trying to stay positive and am ready to fight this.
The pain in my neck continues to be my primary discomfort and the first step of treatment as of this date is to undergo radiation treatment which will likely be followed by chemo.
I appreciate the tremendous support from my family, friends, Police Officers in the Pittsfield PD and law enforcement from across the country, the FBI and my doctor friends at the Cleveland Clinic.
