Last year, Perry had esophageal cancer and had extensive surgery. He was told by his doctor that he was cancer-free and did not need any chemotherapy.
His scans have come back clear with the exception of this last one, which was delayed for three months due to the pandemic. It came back showing an enlarged lymph node at the base of his windpipe. A biopsy was done and it was malignant. There is also a small spot on his right ribcage that glowed in the PET scan. The oncologist said it was inoperable and the only thing to be done was chemotherapy to try and kill off as many cells as possible to shrink the lymph node and, if we are very blessed, put it into remission.
