Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

After waking in great pain several nights in June, it was discovered that Penny had lung cancer in the apex of her right lung. The tumor is pinching the nerves in Penny's back and causing great pain. Penny has assembled a great team of doctors and has started a treatment plan in the hopes of shrinking the tumor and then using surgery to remove it. Penny has been hospitalized twice so far; once due to a strong reaction to the chemo and once due to numerous blood clots. As of Thursday, August 30, Penny is home and allowing her body to dissolve the blood clots and heal from the previous chemo treatment before starting again in about 3 weeks.

We are going to use this site for Penny to share updates as they occur, and to minimize the time Penny needs to spend answering individual texts and e-mails. Please feel free to share your support and Well Wishes for Penny here as well!

Many people are asking how they can help and the biggest request Penny has is for company in the afternoons once Anna goes back to school on 9/1; perhaps to stop by to have lunch or just visit for an hour. Please give her a call or send a text to work out a good visiting time.

Thanks for all your love and support as Penny travels this health journey!
