For the last three weeks (now four), I have been holding vigil with my beloved husband, PenDell .

Three (now four) weeks ago, I took him to the emergency room with slurred speech and mental confusion. He was diagnosed with a stroke.

We left the hospital and went to a Rehabilitation Hospital. He began having symptoms that could not be diagnosed there so we went to McKee Hospital in Loveland, CO. After a week of tests, it was re-diagnosed as viral meningitis.

We were there for a week with tests for every infection they could think of then we were released back to rehab.

He is so gracious and so determined and was approaching his therapy like a rockstar but the symptoms of unknown origin continued. It was determined that we needed to move to Denver to the Swedish Medical Center where we would have more access to specialists who might be able to help to find the cause of the symptoms.

I know that we have a road ahead that is completely unpredictable and unknown. I am strong in faith that he will heal and restore - he has beenfilled with grace, gratitude and determination through this.

The infection is still active in his brain. He has a hard time expressing himself in words... how ironic! He still experiences confusion and gets disoriented.

It seemed time to reach out so that all who know and love PenDell can hold him in your loving care.
