Hello, my name is Carol McCallum. I am Peggy McCartie's youngest sister. Many of you may already know that Peggy is facing significant health challenges. I have started this site to update friends and family on the status of our mutual relative and friend. I will make every attempt to update this site with information about Peggy and her husband, Jack, as their situation develops.
Peggy was diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer in September. By then, the cancer had already metastasized to adrenal glands and various bone sites. Tests revealed that she might benefit from a course of immunotherapy. However, the latest report is that the immunotherapy is not working and further treatment would be counterproductive. Peggy has opted to cease treatment and enter an in-home Hospice program. She is home, resting comfortably and at peace, but is not up for visitors nor is she responding to phone calls or messages. She wishes everyone to know that she appreciates the kind thoughts and prayers and apologizes for being unable to make individual responses to your well wishes.
Her husband Jack is also in ill health, undergoing kidney dialysis, fighting pneumonia and facing cataract surgery.
The distant families on both sides are coming together to help arrange for at home support for both of them.
