Our Story

3rd Journey
In December 2015 I went for a routine Colonoscopy and they found a new cancer. I am thankful for the routine checks for both this test and the mammogram have been critical for me. This cancer seems to have found its way to my lymph nodes and lungs. A Stage IV diagnosis is to be honest, a bit overwhelming at 1st. We are grateful for great Dr.’s, family and friends and our faith. Thank you from my deepest heart for your prayers as we walk down this new road. Much Love, peggy

2nd Journey
I developed Breast Lymphedema post my breast cancer surgery. Michael calls it my second cancer. It has a light blue ribbon. Living with Lymphedema is a blog all its own. Finding medical help, daily maintenance and living are complex physically and emotionally. We are grateful for local Dr.’s and Physical Therapists that have walked with us on this journey to find help and support.

1st Journey
In June 2013 I went for a routine Mammogram. When I left I was feeling accomplished that I had gotten in and completed that for this year. About a week later I got a call that they had compared my films and there was a spot they wanted to check further. So I went for the further testing (on our 5 year wedding anniversary). The Dr. wanted to biopsy the spot. On July 10, 2013 my Doctor called to tell me there were cancer cells in the lump. It is Stage 1 and at this time does not look like it is in the lymph nodes. For this we are VERY grateful. Early detection is the best you can ask for. We were able to see the surgeon very quickly and start on this journey of what is the best treatment for now and the future.
