On March 27th, 2017 Paxton was diagnosed with Nephroblastoma, otherwise known as Wilms Tumor which is a form of pediatric kidney cancer (https://www.cancer.org/cancer/wilms-tumor/about/what-is-wilms-tumor.html).  Days earlier, Megan noticed a lump in Paxton's left abdomen while getting him dressed and called the pediatrician for a follow up.  After the appointment and some blood tests followed by an ultrasound we were delivered the news of his diagnosis.  We know that his cancer is bilateral meaning that the tumor exists on both kidneys.  Paxton has a very large tumor on his left kidney that is multiple times the size of his actual kidney, they are calling that the "grapefruit."  The tumor on the right kidney is much smaller which we are referring to as the "raspberry."  Fortunately, the cancer has not spread to any other organs but the large tumor itself has grown around a large vein that carries blood from the heart to the lower half of the body.  This vein is not compromised but it does complicate things a bit when talking about surgical removal meaning we will need to leave Kalispell to get the surgery done.
