Paul was working at his cabin in the Ely area the weekend of September 23 & 24.  He was supposed to meet up with his son Danny and grandson for some golfing on Sunday (9/24), but never showed up.  Danny went to check on his Dad and found Paul had been injured.   Carol is not sure,  but they are thinking that sometime Saturday or early Sunday, he had fallen from a ladder leading to their loft in the cabin.  Paul doesn't remember what happened.

He was taken by ambulance to the Ely hospital, where they found head trauma and because of the fog in the area,  he couldn't be airlifted to Duluth so he was taken by ambulance to St Mary's in Duluth.

He has a basal skull fracture and has some bleeding and swelling on the brain.  All of his ribs on his right side are broken, also a few of the transverse processes (the bony things that protrude from each vertebrae in your spine) are broken.  The spinal chord is fine, thank goodness!!!
