Welcome to the Fourth Quarter blog, a place to update all those interested in receiving updates on our dad Paul. If you know him at all, you won't be surprised that he wants us to keep these updates light with minimal sadness and a lot of dry humor. God has blessed "the Hackert girls" with a father who taught us how to change a tire, bait a hook, not take life too seriously, it's okay to eat raw hamburger, work hard but play harder, drive fast (but safely), and most importantly never ever give up - keep looking up and forward!
Backstory: After successful radiation treatment of Stage 4 prostate cancer in 2016, Paul started experiencing some complications a year later. After many trips to Des Moines doctors and the Mayo Clinic, we transitioned care to Pella where the doctors found the cancer had returned. We are desperately praying for the months to turn into years, but we rest in the fact that our dad is fully at peace and excited to fish with his heavenly Father when He calls him Home!
