Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I was a  healthy half marathon runner.  One morning in April of 2019 I woke up with numbness and weakness in my right arm.  Three weeks later I had an appointment with my primary care physician.   He sent me for my first nerve conduction test.  That lead to an MRI, a referral to a neurologist, several blood tests, a spinal tap and another nerve conduction test.  A trip to Duke for a second opinion in October left me with more questions than answers.  I was then sent to Wake Forest on March 5, 2020 for another opinion.  That visit was the beginning of my new journey with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease) .
