Three and a half years ago, Paul began feeling short of breath, a heaviness when breathing, and a general sense of weakness. It took about half a year before he was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome, a rare cancer of the bone marrow. His disease was controlled for several years with a drug called Revlamid. However, over time it became ineffective and his cancer continued to progress.
