We wanted to share some news about our mom.  
Back in April/May at her regular check in with her oncologist.

 The scan of her pancreas, abdomen and gastric area looked good but the Dr saw some nodules on her right lung, a biopsy conducted. We received the results on 5/7/20. (We weren’t actually in the office with them but with her and the Dr on a conference call.)

The results-the nodules are cancerous. Based on some blood tests, it is not lung cancer but actually the pancreatic cancer showing up in her lungs.  It is unusual for it to travel from the pancreas to the lungs without any issues in the rest of her gastric area, however it can happen.

Essentially, her pancreatic cancer has metastasized to her lungs.  The Dr explained that when a cancer metastasizes, it is considered incurable. The treatment options are not about curing the cancer but maintaining a quality of life.  

Our mom has been healthy, you know, other than having cancer, so we were able to go on a couple of trips with her over the summer and fall before she started chemo.

Although, we know this will have a finality eventually, we believe that our mom will remain strong and relatively heathy for a long time.  Her living with cancer will be our new reality.

We know that our family has an amazing support system.  We will do our best to keep you notified as we know more.
