Welcome to Patty's CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Following months of digestive issues, a CT scan found a malignant tumor on Patty's pancreas in late January, 2021. It was determined to be pancreatic adenocarcinoma, stage 3, localized.

Her current treatment plan includes aggressive chemotherapy followed by targeted radiation to shrink the tumor as much as possible. Patty is also consulting with pancreative cancer specialists at University of Chicago and Mayo Clinic regarding clinical trials and post-chemo surgical options.

Given her relatively young age at diagnosis and lack of any serious pre-existing conditions, the doctors are also exploring genetic sources of the cancer which could impact treatment. In the last 5 years, treatments for pancreatic cancer have increased exponentially, resulting in longer survival rates. It is no longer a death sentence it was once considered.
