On July 7, 2017, I was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (cancer of the bone marrow). Myeloma cells accumulate in the bone marrow crowding out healthy, normal blood cells and invade the bone tissue causing rib and back pain. A six month chemotherapy treatment plan was initiated July 11. We're happy to report my treatment plan was very effective reducing my abnormal plasma count from 90% to 1%! However, after consulting with a physician at Rochester Mayo, a stem cell transplant was highly recommended with hope of continued remission for years.
