We, Kristin DelMonte, Jason Del Monte and Megan Feucht want to share some difficult news with you regarding our mom’s health situation.
On March 8, she was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer with metastases to her brain. She was in the hospital for two weeks where she underwent targeted radiation in an attempt to shrink the three golf ball sized masses in her occipital and temporal lobes.
After not showing improvement during the following two weeks at the SNF/rehab facility, we decided to bring her home, under the care of Hospice of the Valley. She is constantly surrounded by her family, beloved animals and a few close friends.
Megan took a leave of absence from her nursing job at Northwestern to come home and help care for our mom. She has been the most amazing, diligent, caring and competent caregiver and it’s so cool to see her in her nursing element. #myheromacklin
Since our mom is being called home by her beloved Lord and has begun her journey to be reunited with our Dad in heaven, we felt the need to share this in case you would like to write a few words to her here on CaringBridge, or FB that we will be sure she hears while she is still here with us.
She has touched so many lives in so many ways and is loved so deeply by those who have been blessed enough to know her. This is going to hit hard for many of you, and I’m so sorry for your sadness, but rest assured, she will NOT suffer and she is truly at peace, ready to finally dance the twist with the love of her life, just like when they were kids.
