The Sunday morning after Thanksgiving, Patrick decided to go to the emergency room for pain in his abdomen. He had been sick for about a month and was in contact with his primary care about what appeared to be digestion problems. In the ER, the doctors completed a CAT scan looking for impacted bowels. Instead, they found many tumors on an enlarged liver. They also discovered tumors in his colon and pancreas. They believe that cancer started in the pancreas or colon and spread to the liver. We are now starting an aggressive plan meeting with oncology, gastroenterology, etc. Our doctors will be from either Massachusetts General Hospital or Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. We are thankful to live close to some of the nation's best hospitals.

As you can imagine we are devastated. And I'm sure this news will cause you all sadness as well, so I apologize in advance. It is hard to think that just a few days ago we had a wonderful life. Please know that we have been surrounded with a level of love and support that is beyond imaginable. The outpouring has been one silver lining. We are so fortunate to have so many amazing people in our lives.
