**Patrick had a fall in his home on the early morning of Nov. 17th, after an evening out with friends from the Anoka Legion. Upon awakening at the bottom of the stairs he realized he was unable to move. Having no leg movement and limited feeling and his hands were unable to open. He laid there for many hours trying to get his phone from his pocket. After dialing 911 he went on his first siren driven ambulance ride to Mercy Hospital.


Upon arriving Patrick looked pretty rough and bloody from his fall. He immediately had CT scans and I believe an MRI.  His neck was placed in a secure brace.  The first time the Neurologist Assistant spoke to us she mentioned a C5 fracture, and spinal injury syndrome. I have since been told it is a nondisplaced C6 fracture. When he first arrived he couldn't lift either leg or open his hands. I am so happy to say he has function in his left hand and is working on improving that. He is now able to slightly lift that left leg! His right leg has minimal feeling and we are confident he will regain movement and his right hand can rotate and has thumb movement!! These are small but great improvements over the past week! The doctors keep saying small progress has the best outcome!! 


He will be moved to Abbott-Kinney Courage for intense therapy which should happen today😀  


Patrick has family and many many friends who visit and make him laugh and are full of support and encouraging words!! He needs the continued support as he will endure 21 days of intense therapy and be reevaluated .
