Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Patricia Mazure is a loving mom, nana, and friend. She's devoted to her family and means the world to all who know and love her.
On Friday, December 3, Mom had a stroke. She was taken by ambulance to the local hospital and then airlifted to a hospital that performed surgery to remove the clot that she had in her brain. Since that Friday night we have been holding vigil at her bedside. According to the neurologist that performed her surgery and then read the MRI, she has extensive damage on her left side lobe from her frontal cortex spanning into her temporal lobe. With that information, they were able to tell us that Mom will be paralyzed on her right side and her speech and language along with processing of information will be difficult to rebound and recover from. She also will no longer be independent and will need 24/7 care moving forward. She is in the ICU and is breathing on her own and requires no medication for sedation. She is basically "sleeping" as her body is trying to go through the process of what the stroke has done to her brain and the process of how it starts to heal.
