Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Our story began in the early morning hours of Friday, October 8, 2021.  Pat had been suffering from excruciating pain in his upper left leg.  Since his family has quite a history of arthritis, we were in belief that might be what was causing the pain.  On . September 13, 2021 he saw a doctor in Lincoln that did x-rays on the upper leg area.  A few days later, we got a call from the doctor that he was seeing something on the x-ray that concerned him.  Pat had a whole body nuclear scan at FRHS in Norfolk on September 29th.  By October 1st, we were getting labs drawn and trying to get an MRI scheduled to look further into what was being seen.   We got the labs done, but, the MRI was being delayed due to insurance and scheduling conflicts.  Around 1:15 am on Friday, October 8, Pat was getting back into bed and fractured his femur bone.   I (Amy), took him to the ER.  And, that is where the story begins.  On Saturday, October 9th, we learned that Patric had a mass on his left kidney and cancer in the upper left femur area of his leg and a spot on his T-12 vertebrae.   A trip to UNMC in Omaha from October 12th-25th, resulted in three surgeries.  He first had a bone biopsy done on Oct. 13th,  a rod put in his left femur on Oct. 18th and his left kidney removed on Oct, 22nd.
