Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

On Saturday evening, July 1st, Pat and Laura were riding their motorcycle along the Blue Ridge Parkway in Va with friends while on vacation. They were struck by an oncoming vehicle that lost control. Pat saw the vehicle lose control and locked up the brakes on the motorcycle. He slid 25ft and laid the bike down at the last minute. The sliding car struck the bike and pushed it back another 16 feet. Pat and Laura were then lifeflighted to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital with multiple injuries. Thankfully they were both wearing helmets and their have been no head trauma.

Both are stable and alert and progressing each day. Pat and Laura both have similar injuries. They both had compound fractures of their legs. Laura's left leg and Pats right leg, and both have broken pelvis'. They both had surgeries on their legs and pelvis so far.

Laura also has a fracture in her right ankle and several large lacerations on her leg. 9 broken ribs, bruised lungs, small cuts and scrapes on her right kidney, liver and spleen. She also has a fractured T6 in her back and a broken elbow.

Along with Pats broken pelvis and right leg, his left knee has a large laceration so that was cleaned up in surgery as well. He had a large laceration in his left arm which needed stitches. He also has some severe road rash on the left side of his body and six broken ribs.

It will be a long and slow healing process, but are thankful for prayers and support from family and friends.
