About 2 weeks ago dad started not feeling well. He was having shortness of breath and fatigue. He thought it maybe a virus that was going around at work. Last weeked the whole family was able to get away for a few day at Breezy Point resort. Dad was still not feeling well and with some arm twisting we convinced him to go to the doctor when we got back. So Tuesday he went in. The results showed his hemoglobin was at 7.2, which it should be at 14 or higher. The doctor sent his labs in for further test. He was then called Wednesday and told he had Acute Leukemia. He went in that afternoon to the specialist. They wanted to admit him that night, but daddy requested for the next day. He wanted for the family to get together and pray. Thursday daddy was admitted. He had many tests and procedures done. We currently are waiting for final results to come in. From the preliminary results he has been diagnosed with AML, acute myeloid leukemia. At this point the doctor said he will start chemo on Monday the 25th. This will last for 1 week and then stay for at least 3 more weeks to rebuild his system. This all depends on if the leukemia goes into remission with 1 week of chemo.
