I created this Caring Bridge site to streamline communication with you, my caring family and friends, as I journey through open heart surgery and rehab. I have tremendous confidence in my medical team, a realistic dread of the painful rehab I will have to endure and a deep sense of peace which comes from my faith. Steffani, the boys and I appreciate your willingness to surround us with support, prayers and love during this challenging time.

Here is what I know as of today, January 25, 2022. On Monday, February 7, Dr. Hagley will perform a heart catheterization to take a closer look at my heart and determine if any arteries are blocked which may require bypass surgery. I will spend the night at Hutchinson Reginal Medical Center. Then, on Tuesday, February 8, Dr. Flemming will perform open heart surgery to repair an ascending aortic aneurysm and install a mechanical valve. I will hopefully go home in 3 - 5 days, just in time to watch the Super Bowl. My recovery will take about 8 weeks depending on how I do.
