Welcome to our CaringBridge site. If you're here, you've heard something about my health challenge. Our intention is to keep all my friends and loved ones informed and on the same page as we go through this journey together. In this message, I'll share 3 things: My Diagnosis, My Plan, and then I'll give you Ways You Can Support Me. Just know as you read the difficult first paragraph that I am in a good place right now and your caring plays a big part in that truth.

DIAGNOSIS

I have stage IV liver cancer with a 2-6 month life expectancy. Radiation is not an option. The second opinion specialist said that I would be a strong candidate for a clinical trial at UCSF. We are waiting for confirmation of this possibility. (My wing-sista, Kathy Bauer will keep you informed on this site.) In the meantime, I'm working with Dr. Mark Holthouse MD., a board certified internist and certified functional medicine specialist and his dietician. I'll be detoxing my liver and building my immune system.

MY PLAN

I have a theme song! It's RISE by Katy Perry. The first line says it all. "I won't just survive. Oh, you will see me thrive!" Every line of the lyrics resonates with me and I listen to it every morning to get me centered for whatever the day brings. I'm reading books about people in my situation who experienced radical remission and are here years later. There are thousands of them - more every day. There are common threads of behaviors they embraced, so I am learning what they are and adopting them. I' m also planning to have lots of humor, laughter and fun playdates doing all the things I've been "going to do." One of the playdates I hope you'll put on your calendar is New Year's Eve. We are having a blow-out party that I will be attending! The theme is "RISE!" Of course!

YOUR PART

I have a playlist of songs like RISE by Katy Perry and FIRE UNDER MY FEET by Leona Lewis and IT"S MY LIFE by Bon Jovi. They pick me up and get me going in the right direction when my energy starts to derail. If you have some suggestions, please post them here.

I'm creating a Possibility Board with images and phrases that remind me this is a journey of self-love, discovery, and healing. If you have quotes or images or anything else you feel will be uplifting and encouraging to me, post them here.

If you've read a book that is uplifting and filled with possibility that you think is relevant to me, post it here.

And finally, dear ones, when you see or think of me, let your eyes shine with hope and optimism. That will help me heal 1000X more than eyes filled with fear and sorrow.

I love  and appreciate you beyond words.

Pam
