Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer on September 22, 2017.  Oddly enough, it was discovered by a dermatologist from a biopsy performed on a mole-looking area.  The lesson is this - if you have anything strange-looking on your body anywhere, PLEASE go get it checked!  I was immediately referred to MD Anderson and after extensive testing and further biopsies, it was confirmed that I had Stage 3, hormone receptor-positive breast cancer, which had invaded my lymph nodes under my left armpit.  My treatment plan will be extensive.  I will go once a week for 12 weeks and receive Paclitaxel (Taxol), and then every 3 weeks for 4 rounds of AC (Doxorubicin/Cyclophosphamide), aka "Red Devil".  I will be re-evaluated in January and the surgeon will make a determination regarding surgery and radiation.  After treatment is completed at the end of February (fingers crossed), I will have surgery, then radiation.

It is going to be a long road, but I have been so blessed by friends and family with tremendous love and support.  I cannot begin to send enough cards or say enough thank-yous to express how much it has meant to Kenny and myself, and to our precious Kendal.  We often call Kendal our "glue".  For a 14-year-old, he has the biggest heart and we couldn't be more proud of him.  Kenny is my rock and my safe harbor.  Please keep him in your prayers as well.  As if he doesn't have enough day in and day out running three successful bank locations, and about to open a new one in Hardin.  We are both fighters by nature and it seems we have fought for things our entire lives.  We are at our best when the odds are against us.  We have God on our side and we have the most amazing support system.  Thank you all so very much.
