Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

My six year old daughter Paloma and I are facing the battle of our lifetimes. A few weeks ago her father and I noticed that her stomach did not look symmetrical so we went in to have it checked out. After a series of tests on October 25th it  was determined that Paloma has a tumor on one of her kidneys which has prevented it from functioning. The good news is that her other kidney has increased its capacity and is functioning perfectly. The pediatric oncology and surgical team at Oakland Kaiser will perform a removal of both the tumor and not functioning kidney this Wednesday. The preliminary diagnosis is that this tumor is a Wilms Tumor which is a common form of cancer effecting children Paloma’s age which will need to be confirmed post-surgery by a biopsy.  We have hope and a plan and are blessed with a team of medical professionals to help us beat this. Paloma is in no pain and In good spirits so this is a blessing.

Everybody who has met Paloma knows she has abundant energy and spirit. In the coming days, weeks, and months ahead these traits will help us weather  this storm. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers in the days ahead. This has been a roller coaster of emotions the last few days but we are getting by moment by moment.

As we face an uncertain future we can hold fast to God’s promise in Isaiah 40:28-31

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creater of the ends of the Earth, He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
