Around lunch time on Tuesday September 27th, Jacquelyn and their two children, were struck by a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed while sitting stationary trying to merge on to a highway.
As a result of the accident, Jacquelyn sustained a total T1-T4 spinal cord injury, leaving her paralyzed from the chest down. Jacki was rushed to the hospital and had to have emergency surgery to fuse her spine together.
Owen, suffered a C1 dislocation, meaning his skull totally dislocated from his spine. He lost all feeling on the left side of his body. Owen was taken to Children’s Medical where they performed a miraculous 10+ hour surgery to reattach his skull to his spine. Owen also spent 5 days on a ventilator.
Somehow, Evelyn appears to have escaped the accident with only some bruises and scratches. However, she is having a hard time with the challenges of being away from her parents and brother while they are in the hospital.
Both Jacki and Owen are in rehab working very hard towards recovery.
