A former athlete (ironman and ultras) and father of three, I presented with sudden A/V block leading to pacemaker at 42 just after my twins were born. Ten months later was finally diagnosed with giant cell myocarditis/cardiac sarcoidosis and after 4 years of immunosuppression, the jig is up. I've since made the heart transplant list and am weighing the decision of LVAD or Inotrope with my team at Mayo.
I am sharing my struggles here in hopes of helping others with heart failure, of sharing my thoughts with friends and family, and for me to review and remember. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement.
