Owen McCormick Owen Michael's Journey

Owen Michael chose to ring in 2017 on his own terms, arriving 13 weeks early at 9:15 pm on New Year's Day.

Owen's birth story is something you'd only see in the movies. Mom was doing well throughout the entire pregnancy, with only minor discomfort for the last few days. What we thought were a combination of Braxton Hicks contractions and some typical pregnancy gas pains turned out to be actual contractions, Owen was coming. Mom's water broke at home in the bathroom while Dad was on the phone with 911. Pewaukee Fire and Waukesha County Sheriff's deputies were immediately dispatched to the house, but none were as quick as Owen. Owen Michael was born into Daddy's hands at home on the bathroom floor, just 5 minutes after Mom's water broke. Dad's instincts kicked in with some coaching by the 911 operator, and Owen opened his eyes and let out a little cry to let Mommy and Daddy know he was OK. EMTs arrived just a short time later to stabilize baby and rushed him to the ER at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Owen was admitted to the NICU, where he will be approximately until his due date of April 3rd.

Owen's journey is going to be a hard, long fought battle. Initial insurance claims are being denied, and his extensive care is going to be monumentally expensive.Owen's parents , grandparents, extended family and friends are all pulling for him, but we need your help. Extra love, support, and prayers are working, but each day is a new mountain to climb.
