Olivia DeJong

Olivia is the absolute light in our lives.  To know her is to love her.  Her middle name is “grace” and she radiates it!  As a musical aficionado and a talented singer, she has combined those loves with her servant’s heart and chosen to pursue a career in music therapy to help others.  She is a freshman (now a Junior!) at Trinity Christian College where she received many scholarships and awards.  She is a selfless friend who is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and an integral part of many people’s lives. 

After experiencing an issue with her left eye, Olivia met with an ophthalmologist who recommended that she undergo additional tests to diagnose the cause.  On Thursday, September 24, 2020, just two days after her 19th birthday, we received the devastating news that Olivia was diagnosed with Chordoma, a rare type of bone cancer, which is situated right next to her brain stem.  Although we see her as being one in a billion, she is officially “one in a million” as related to this diagnosis.

We are so blessed because we are surrounded by such a great support system of family and friends. We know that God is with us and that the Lord will carry Olivia through this.
