Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Nova has had jaundice issues since leaving the hospital after she was born. Just 4 days old she was readmitted to the hospital for phototherapy to reduce her bilirubin levels in her liver. After just one day she was discharged and the phototherapy was considered successful. For good measure and peace of mind at her 2 month appointment we had her levels checked again. The afternoon of Wednesday, March 25th we were given the news that Nova’s levels were at a high level once again and we were referred to a pediatric gastroenterologist and Nova had an ultrasound. The doctor gave us the news that our 2 month old baby girl most likely had biliary atresia and we were immediately set up with a HIDA scan on Tuesday, May 31st with a surgery date of Thursday, June 2nd if we receive a positive result of Biliary Atresia. If her HIDA Scan were to come back negative a liver biopsy will be done later on to determine the true problem that’s causing her bilirubin levels to be so high.
