Welcome to Mara Grace's CaringBridge site. It is meant to keep you up to date on how she is doing and what things she could use specific prayers for.
Thank you for stopping by and for leaving her sweet messages of HOPE. It brings a wonderful smile to her face!!:) Mara was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called MPS VI ( mucopolysaccharidosis: a very rare progressive genetic disease) in 2006. After several years of complicated ERT (treatment to help slow the progression of her disease) failed to work for her, she underwent her first BMT in 2008 which lead to complete engraftment failure. After a few years later of trial and error therapy, and lengthy ICU hospitalizations the decisions was made to undergo a 2nd bone marrow transplant at the U of Mn. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiation to prepare her bone marrow to receive her "new cells" on Feb. 7th 2013. Holding onto Jeremiah 29:11-13.
We find HOPE in the plan set forth for our "Gracie girl"..... brighter days are ahead!
