Nola had been in light to moderate pain around February 13. She saw her Primary Care Physician twice. Diagnosis: pulled muscle. As her pain continued and escalated, her physician ordered sonogram for beginning of March.

Saturday, February 25- Pain got so bad in the evening, a trip to Prairie Star ER followed.
At the ER, the doctor ordered a CT Scan and diagnosed her with at least one gall stone and a liver mass which he deemed cancerous.
The GI doctor who was called wanted her to be transferred and admitted to Kansas Hospital, but there were no available beds.
Instead, she was transferred to SMMC.

Sunday, February 26- GI Doctor came to talk with us. He had CT Scan with him which included NO gallstones. He ordered an MRI and also a biopsy. She was given morphine before MRI which made her extremely ill. The MRI took longer due to the sickness, but it was completed. She was forced to stay the night until planned biopsy. A CT Scan of her head was performed that evening due to her chronic headaches the past few weeks and it came back normal. Up until the point, all labs that had been performed had been normal. Her liver was functioning normally. Only slightly elevated enzymes, but nothing big.

She was diagnosed with Liver Cancer from MRI scan, CT scan and sonogram. We are still awaiting a pathology report that will give us more answers--the exact type of liver cancer, the location and how it will be treated.

We thank you for your prayers. Gear up, Prayer Warriors. The battle has begun.
