Dear Family and Friends,
On this mother's day, we have many things to be thankful for. But we do have some sad news to share about our son, Nolan. On April 27th, Nolan was diagnosed with a very rare condition called a Wilms Tumor, a cancerous tumor on his left kidney. He had been sick for 6 weeks and after being misdiagnosed several times our worst fears came true. Less than 2 days after being diagnosed, Nolan underwent a surgery to remove the large mass and his left kidney at the Children's Hospital of Colorado. After losing a lot of weight and a major organ, Nolan has recovered incredibly quickly. Unfortunately there is evidence of metastases to his lungs and there is also another primary Wilms tumor in his right kidney. Due to this Nolan will be starting intensive treatment including radiation and chemotherapy that will last a minimum of 6 months.
We have been overwhelmed and very scared but we are remaining strong and positive for our son. Nolan has been beyond brave, braver than we ever knew was possible. He was born a fighter and we believe he can beat this terrible disease. As of now, the odds are in his favor that he can be cured according to his oncologist.
To cut down on phone calls and text messages, we have decided to share his story on this site so you can follow his fight and we will continue to provide updates when possible. We have also started a go fund page that you can access from this website. All donations will go towards covering medical bills and associated health care costs.
Thank you for all your love and support during this difficult time, Victoria and Nate
