In early December of 2016, Noelene was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  In true form, she agreed to be the very first patient in a clinical trial through the University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center using an exciting new drug Pembrolizumab, or Pembro.  For more about Pembro, check out this link:  http://time.com/4298549/cancer-immunotherapy-pembro-drug-melanoma/.   Former president, Jimmy Carter, was treated for Melanoma cancer in his brain and liver about a year ago, using Pembro, and had a full recovery very quickly using Pembro.  Noelene has had three treatments with the traditional chemotherapy drugs along with the new experimental drug, Pembro.  The response has been remarkable as her blood tests (CA-125) indicate that her levels have gone from over 6000, down to 100 (normal is between 0-35).  Noelene will have a surgery in March and then have three more rounds of chemotherapy with Pembro, following the surgery.  Our Mom is a true trailblazer!   We'd like to use CaringBridge to keep everyone up to date with Mom's progress.  We would like to thank everyone for your ongoing support.
