Nico Phillips NKA Breast Cancer Diary

First post: May 14, 2017
Welcome to our CaringBridge website! We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place.

I come from a long line of cancer victims as well as survivors. I guess I've always thought I'd get some form of it.  Back in November I had my 1st mammogram ever at the age of43. They found some kind of "anomoly", a calcification & wanted to do another to check it out. The 2nd mammo was in February &lead to a long process of scheduling a biopsy.

I have been diagnosed with a type of breast cancer called DCIS (Ductal Carcinoma In Situ) & it's the earliest form of breast cancer. It's in the milk duct & is considered noninvasive (which means it doesn't spread unless left unchecked). My Dr said if ya gotta have 1, it's the easiest to treat! Treatment is generally surgical removal followed by radiation therapy, but of course I'll have to see what the specialist says on Mon.

We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. We ot this!!
