On October 10th of this year, I went into the emergency room to treat my chronic abdominal pain which had suddenly gotten to be out of control. The doctors found a dark spot on my ultrasound, and decided to take out my appendix to be safe. Initially I was told that the surgery was a complete success, and that pathology had come back entirely normal, but that turned out not to be the case. Pathology on the appendix revealed a small carcinoid tumor, just small enough to be considered non-threatening, but they decided to schedule further surgery anyway to be on the safe side. On November 26th, I went in for a partial colectomy and again pathology revealed yet another tumor growing on my large intestine. This time it was not a small and unobtrusive carcinoid tumor but a full-blown neuroendocrine tumor. I am still awaiting further news from my surgeon and the oncology department regarding the severity of the tumor and my treatment plan, but decided to star this page as a way to keep my friends and family in the loop regarding my treatment because at this point it seems like it's going to be a long road to recovery. My insurance will also be running out at the end of this calendar year, so I'll be setting up a GoFundMe to offset my medical bills. In the meantime, keep checking back here for updates on my progress and let's all hope for the best
