Nick was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) on January 22, 2016. He was admitted to Bryan Medical Center East that Friday morning and started chemotherapy that same afternoon. He spent 39 days in hospital and endured two rounds of induction chemo. He had two rounds of consolidation chemo in March and April, respectively, spending five days in the hospital for each.
It all started when Nick and Jenn went to the doctor for pink eye. Nick had about four unrelated, various infections in the previous 6 months or so, so we also mentioned that. The doc ordered a CBC blood test. That test came back with really low counts, so he was referred to a Hematologist. A bone marrow biopsy revealed that Nick had leukemia. It was a whirlwind week and a half from the initial pink eye dr visit to diagnosis.
We'd really appreciate your prayers as Nick continues through this journey.
