Ned Startzel

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Ned has so many people who love him thru his many activities in Dallas, that we wanted a site where everyone can see what is going on.  
Ned has been fighting a severe blood infection, that would and could have been fatal for a youthful person, not to mention a 98 year old.  He has such a strong will to live and because of his strength of body as well has been able to succeed thus far.  The infection turned very quickly to septic shock,, so it has really racked his body.  He also has gall bladder issues going on at the same time and the infection has caused a very severe case of pancreatitis. On Monday he will have a procedure to remove a stent that was placed in the bile duct to relieve infection, and then following on Tuesday they will remove the gall bladder.  These are his next large hurdles.  Then he can focus on getting his strength back and returning to his numerous activities in Dallas, and Elsie and his gang at Brookdale Preston.  
Of course he wants to drive that silly car again! 


His major worry at this point is his beloved Elsie.  She could very much use some visitation at Brookdale Preston to keep her company.  Ned provided so much for her, and Brookdale is seeing to her needs, but she gets lonely.  Ned's daughters Susie and Beth visit as much as possible, but being that they live in east Texas and Denton, most of visiting time is at hospital.
