Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting. Nathan discovered he had a tumor near his spine in November after months of back pain. It was in the same spot where he had had a lymph node removed 15 years prior from a previous cancer. On Thursday the 12th of January they removed 3/4 of the tumor that was attached to his aorta. It was too embedded in his aorta to remove anymore. They also removed one kidney. It has been determined that the tumor is colon cancer, but Nathan may be one of the rare few that may not have it anywhere else. Treatment plan for the cancer is on hold until his current condition is stabilized. Since the first surgery he has not been able to keep food down and so they did exploratory surgery on Friday 27th. At that point they inserted a JPEG and G-Tube to give his intestines an opportunity to rest and to give options for feeding and draining his stomach. They also found during the last surgery that he has some pancreatitis and a fair amount of scarring from his surgery 15 years ago.
