Nate was born with a Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), a small hole in the wall separating the ventricles of his heart. This fall, Nate's cardiologist observed some enlargement of his heart due to this condition and advised us to proceed with a surgical repair. So on March 7, Nate will undergo open-heart surgery at MGH to patch the hole. He's an otherwise healthy, energetic kid, so the outlook for his surgery and recovery is excellent.
