Evie’s Story: On Christmas Eve afternoon, she came to my new condo to decorate the Christmas spritz cookies with lots of SPRINKLES ❣️(see photos) We had just finished the cookies and we’re waiting for them to cool, so we could go back to the Young household to put the finishing touches on Christmas Eve dinner when Laura got a phone call which would change our lives forever. Laura had taken EV(sic) in for a blood test in the morning because Evie had a small red and blue mark on the side of her right eye and a little swelling the night before. Unfortunately, the test showed markers for cancer and severe anemia. Laura rushed Evie to the emergency room while Peter drove Mason and I to his house to stay so that he could join Laura.
Our vivacious, verbal and vibrant girl has been diagnosed with a high risk Neuroblastoma. Her parents were told they would immediately start an 18 month treatment plan which includes chemo, radiation, surgery, transfusions and a bone marrow transplant!!! The good news is, thanks to science they have now discovered a way to use her own marrow to transplant back into her‼️ Hurrah for the scientists and doctors who continue to make strides towards this horrible disease❣️
