Nancy Knight

This past Wednesday, Nancy was out shopping at Westroads Mall.  When she hadn't come home by 6:30pm, Keith and Karen became concerned.  Here's what they didn't know:

About 4:00pm Nancy was at the mall shopping when she had a massive stroke to the full left side of the brain.  God was good and sent several angels to watch over her!  The first "angel" recognized the symptoms as those of a stroke and immediately called for an ambulance which arrived within minutes.  The "TPA" (medication needed for treatment and needed to be administered within the 1st hour of having a stroke), was administered by the EMTs, (next group of angels) within 14 minutes!  (We are told the record is 13 minutes.)  She was immediately taken to the Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.  A team (more angels) were lined up outside the emergency room all prepared for her arrival and rushed her in for the appropriate care.  By 5:00pm Nancy was in surgery where most of a blood clot was successfully removed from the front of her brain.  We later learned that the stroke was caused by a clot in her heart.  That clot still exists however is currently being treated with blood thinners.  Although she was left with some vision impairment in her right eye, we are grateful the outcome was not much worse.  We were told she could have easily been paralyzed on the right side, unable to talk, or worse.  We are hopeful that with time her vision will improve.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch....after several unsuccessful attempts of reaching Nancy, Keith and Karen finally made contact with her and rushed to the hospital.  After 4 days in the hospital she was released to go home.  It is absolutely amazing to all of us that Nancy would have a stroke at 4pm and be recovering from brain surgery by 6:00pm!  Personally, we are sure it is only because of God's grace and the efforts of all His angels whom he sent that day that she survived and is with us today.  She will need to be monitored very closely but between her regular doctor, her neurologists, neurosurgeon, cardiac doctors and too many more to mention, we are confident that with time she will recover nicely.  Her biggest disappointment at this point is having to cancel their cruise to Hawaii and being told she can't drive for at least 3 months.

Thank you for keeping Nancy in your prayers.  Feel free to share this information with anyone you think appropriate.
