Nancy (Stenhjem) Hofstrand has a wide circle of friends and family who care deeply for her. Caringbridge gives us a forum for us to keep you updated on her healing. On Sunday, July 9, she was admitted to Essentia St. Mary’s in Detroit Lakes with pneumonia. Her condition became more serious and she was airlifted to Essentia Fargo on Tuesday, July 11. She was immediately sedated and paralyzed—essentially put into a medically induced coma—so that the ventilator could breathe for her as the antibiotics go to work. The current diagnosis is Acute Respiratory Distress syndrome, along with pneumonia.
Nancy is in the very capable caring hands of the Critical Care Unit at Essentia Hospital, Fargo. She is where she needs to be and is getting state-of-the-art attention during the healing process. We’re deeply grateful for the skilled care she’s receiving.
