My name is Katrina and I have created this website so that you can follow along with my daughter's journey to organ transplant. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate each of you being a part of the "village" that will help get us through this. Myah's story started at 9 years old when she was diagnosed with Diabetes. We would learn that her Diabetes had gone undiagnosed by her pediatrician, for over 18 months. A year after she was diagnosed with Diabetes, she began to show damage to her kidneys, which also causes high blood pressure. While we knew that one-day she may be facing the need for a kidney transplant, her current unresolved stomach issues which causes extreme nausea and vomiting (and thus serious dehydration) - has further damaged her kidneys. Over the last 6 months alone, she has had 10 hospital stays, 20+ doctor visits and numerous other challenges. In that same time period, she went from a prognosis of perhaps needing a kidney transplant in 10 years, to needing one in 5 years - to needing a kidney transplant NOW! This has all accelerated so quickly. We have also learned that she may also be eligible to receive a pancreas transplant. If that happens, she would technically, no longer have diabetes -- something that has been her dream since she was first diagnosed 18 years ago. Please follow along with us on this journey.
