Welcome to our CaringBridge website. Heather and I will use this to share information about my progress. We thank you so much for your support and offers to help. We will let you know when and what we need. There is a "Ways To Help" button above. We will add things there as we figure them out.
The basic story is that I have been dealing with a nagging and annoying but not debilitating cough for a while now. I continued to do all my regular activities including baseball (we won the Championship the year), vacation in Italy with the family in June and hiking the High Sierra with Heather in July. It finally got bad enough that with some additional investigation, we discovered that the cough was the result of squamous cell carcinoma in my left lung. Yikes! That was a surprise to say the least. We are approaching this with a positive outlook and the same determination that Heather would apply to a 100 mile race and the same energy Keith would spend turning a double into a triple! We are working with our excellent doctors at Stanford on a treatment plan for a full recovery. All the details are contained inside so come on in and join the journey!
