Welcome to Miss Momma Kat's CaringBridge. This is not only the place to visit when you want to know Miss Kat’s status, it is also a place you can visit to learn how you can help; Please click on the "ways to help" button above.
On Thanksgiving Eve, Miss Kat called 911 and reported she was having difficulty breathing. She was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Federal Way, Washington. Since then she has been in the ICU, kept in a medically induced coma. The purpose of this is to keep her as comfortable as possible while the medical staff watch the fluid in her lungs, how well her heart is distributing blood, how well she is passing fluids, and general care of her basic needs. She is x-rayed almost daily to monitor her abdomen and her chest. She is also twice daily evaluated for a breathing trial or a vacation from her sedation to determine how responsive she is and how well she is bringing oxygen to her lungs on her own. Her initial diagnosis is emphysema/COPD. Miss Kat has a history of Hepatitis C, heart attack and diabetes.
Miss Kat has been a very active and helpful person in our community, and she is known to call most of us her “babies.”
Your help, love and support are needed. A small handful of us have been watching over her and visiting her for the last week. Now that Thanksgiving is over, Miss Kat’s son Zack has had to return to work, though he gets up early to visit her before work as well as he visits her after work. We need help with being in the hospital to be available to talk to Momma occasionally, so she hears familiar voices around her. We are also grateful for any help with meals because those of us who have been watching her are in school, nearing the end of the quarter, and we are all getting pretty exhausted.
Thank you in advance for your support. Your well wishes will be appreciated by Miss Kat when she wakes up.
