On November 17, 2016, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It is an understatement to say I was shocked. I had a mammogram every year, did not have a family history of cancer, and truly thought it would never happen to me. Never say never. Luckily, I paid attention to my body and when I felt what I thought was a cyst I went to the doctor. He immediately knew by the ultrasound that it wasn't a cyst and three days later the biopsy results showed it was, indeed, breast cancer. The days since then have been a whirlwind. On December 19th I had a double mastectomy and on January 26th I started chemotherapy. The plan is 16 rounds of chemo followed by seven weeks of radiation. This is not the path I would have chosen for 2017, but it is the path I am on and I am taking it one day at a time. The prayers, well wishes, cards, gifts, and food that we have received have been overwhelming. It is because of all of the wonderful friends that have reached out to us that I am creating this page. We will update it as we travel along this journey.
