On August 17, 2011, at the age of 2 1/2, Millie was diagnosed with having a rare form of kidney cancer called Clear Cell Sarcoma of the Kidney, stage III.  This type of cancer affects only 20 people in the United States per year.  We serve a God of miracles and are praying for her complete healing.  "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen."  Ephesians 3:20-21  Thank you so much for your prayers for our precious daughter!

On Thursday evening, August 4, 2011, Millie began vomiting in the middle of the night and complaining of a stomachache.  I felt her stomach Friday morning, as she was lying in the bed with me, and noticed a knot.

Friday morning, August 5, 2011 we took Millie to the Emergency Room at Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Atlanta.  They immediately x-rayed and performed an ultra sound of her stomach.  Her blood pressure was also extremely high 159/119.  At first they thought their machine was not working properly and had to take her blood pressure manually.  This confirmed that indeed her blood pressure was very serious.

Soon afterward, the Emergency Room doctor came to tell me something that would forever change our lives.  She had a very large tumor in her left kidney that was cancerous.  He believed, at the time, it was a Wilms tumor.

The Oncology doctors came in next.  Honestly, I don't remember a thing they told me.  My head was spinning of the news from the ER doctor.  How could my little girl, who has always been so healthy, have cancer in her little body?

We were immediately admitted to the hospital, which would become a 10 day stay.  Millie was given 3 different types of medicine to try to control her blood pressure.

The doctors then told us she would have to have surgery to remove the tumor as well as her left kidney.

Even though Millie's cancer shocked us, God was not the least surprised!  He knows every detail of our lives.  He knew about those cells when she was being formed in my womb (Psalm 139:14-15).  There were and still are many unanswered questions and things that we do not understand.  However, we do know this: 1.  That God has plans for Millie.  Plans to prosper her and not to harm her.  Plans to give her a hope and a future!  (Jeremiah 29:11)  2.  That we serve a great King! (Psalm 47:2)  3.  That God's love for Millie is SO GREAT!  (Ephesians 3:18-19) 

We serve a great and mighty God!!  My prayer is that God would work miracles and that HE would be glorified!  "You (Satan) intended to harm me, but GOD intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives."  (Genesis 50:20)
