Miles is a flight paramedic with North Memorial Air Ambulance service, as well as a ground paramedic for Cuyuna Regional Medical Center and North Memorial ambulance. On Saturday morning, September 17th, Miles and his crew were dispatched to a call at Alexandria, Minnesota. On the way to the call, the helicopter that he was flying in, crashed near the Alexandria airport.
