Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Mike has not been feeling well since April.  His appetite was small, and he had been losing weight.  His energy levels dropped and he noticed a steep decline in the month of June that continued through July.  He had been looking for answers since.   After visiting his primary doctor, the GI specialist, an ultrasound, and a MRI, they scheduled an ERCP and an EUS for August 3rd.  During this procedure they got a biopsy and also managed to get a stent placed in his common bile duct.  The biopsy came back malignant and he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer Monday morning, the 6th.  He was readmitted to Abbott on Tuesday the 7th because the stent placed on Friday was not doing it’s job.  He underwent his 2nd ERCP to maximize the positioning of stents and get the drainage of bile from his body and help relieve the jaundice.  After meeting with the oncologists and getting results back from the pathologists they DO NOT think it’s is pancreatic cancer.   Whew!  They have rediagnosed the cancer as Ampullary Pancreatobiliary which is a rare form of cancer only found in .2%  of patients with intestinal cancers.  He had a Whipple procedure done on August 20th and we need him to regain his strength so he is ready for further treatments.  Please send him lots of strength, love and prayers during this challenge in his life!
